As I can't remember anything nowadays, when I get the Houston Prime Timers newsletter or an email blast about a Dine-a-Rama or Roving Day Timers event I want to go to, I enter it on my iPhone calendar. The trick is under "Location" to enter the restaurant name and if you have typed it correctly, you are presented with the name & location or a list of possible matches. Touch the correct one and it becomes part of your calendar entry.

On the day of the event, you open your calendar and touch the address. Your iPhone opens Maps to show you exactly where you're going. Then touch "Directions" and you'll get step-by-step voice and visual directions to drive to the event. You can also touch any address in your "Contacts" with the same result.

Do you know all the things you don't have to carry around any more? How about a camera, camcorder, radio, cassette tape player, eBook reader, calculator, voice recorder, GPS device, flash light, compass, portable gaming device, portable video player, alarm clock, wrist watch, timer, books, newspapers, magazines, photo album, contact list/phone book, day planner, pocket foreign language dictionaries, grocery lists, road maps, and more. Your smart phone can do all of this for you.
