  • For the best times of your life

Prime Timers are older gay or bisexual men (and younger men who admire mature men) who enrich their social lives, engage in diverse activities, and enjoy opportunities and friendships with other Prime Timers throughout the world. Our organization is emerging as a leading force in the gay and bisexual communities with over 75 chapters throughout North America and Australia. Look for a chapter near you!

  • Woody Baldwin

Prime Timers was founded in 1987 by a retired professor, Woody Baldwin. He felt a wide gap existed in today's society which caters almost exclusively to youth. Woody began the Boston Chapter by placing ads in local newspapers and soliciting his many friends. The attendance at the first meeting indicated to Woody that a need existed for social and cultural organizations to aid and support the aging gay and bisexual man. Now this organization has grown to over 80 chapters worldwide, located throughout North America, Europe and Australia.

  • ENRICHMENT THROUGH DIVERSITY

Our members are men who choose to have their social lives enriched by the diverse activities in which our members engage. Prime Timers are fathers, care givers, businessmen, entrepreneurs, workers, and retirees. One thing is true of all Prime Timers: they enjoy the opportunities and friendships that develop with other Prime Timers throughout the world.

  • REGIONAL EVENTS

Come learn more about Prime Timers, make new friends, and explore different parts of the country and world! Regional events invite members to come together for fun and friendship. Destinations such as Oklahoma City, Las Vegas, and Denver are regular, annual events that are open to all Prime Timers members and friends.

  • TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES

Individual chapters welcome the chance to meet visitors from other chapters. Letters asking for local information and recommendations will be well received and acted upon. Chapters enjoy showing off their communities and having visitors come away with a feeling of kinship and brotherhood with their new-found friends.

  • TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES

Sail the seven seas with fellow Prime Timers members from all around the world! Worldwide and chapter sponsored cruises explore exotic destinations such as Rome, Italy, the Western Caribbean, Miami, Boston, Amsterdam, Munich, the Rhine River, and many more. It is an experience that you will never forget.

  • COMMUNITY

Prime Timers chapters offer a myriad of weekly and monthly activities to suit social interests. Members get together for dinners, potlucks, cards, board games, movies, outdoor adventures, and much more. It is a sense of strong community and supportive brotherhood that highlights each chapter and throughout the organization.

  • WORLDWIDE CONVENTIONS

The Prime Timers Worldwide Convention is held every two years in major cities to allow our members to gather to socialize with other Prime Timers, attend workshops geared towards Prime Timers and to conduct business of the organization. Plans are always underway for the next upcoming convention.

On Saturday August 11th, the Boston, Connecticut, and Rhode Island chapters gathered together to celebrate the 31st Anniversary of the founding of Prime Timers. As "New England" chapters, we decided on a good old-fashioned New England Clambake theme for the party. We enjoyed boiled lobster, steamers, chowder, and corn on the cob and all the traditional accompaniments at the Twelve Acres Farm in Smithfield Rhode Island. In addition to the wonderful dinner, the men enjoyed the "Gay J" playing classic hits and some braved a karaoke sing-a-long. The scenic grounds also included bocce and horseshoe courts which several of the guys partook in.

A few weeks ago, my friend Jim and I visited the Georgetown Kentucky area to see many of the famous horse farms. I had the chance to admire a few of the multimillion dollar horses that race at some of the celebrated race tracks around this country and the world.
