I started cycling in my early 50’s and found it to be remarkably fun. I’m pushing 60 now and look forward to getting out on the trails as much as I can this year. Cycling has helped me improve the quality of my life! By giving me an enjoyable approach to exercise, keeping my weight in check and improving my sleep I have become more productive at work and more relaxed in my leisure time.
Fitness has always been a priority for me, the health benefits alone make it well worth the effort. There is an abundance of research available supporting the health benefits of cycling. Cardiovascular fitness it at the top of the list, but is not the only reason to take up the sport. Strengthening legs, knees and ankles helps prevent injuries, and keeping a strong lower body is necessary for good balance and reduces the risk of falling.
